Clayton’s purpose is opening doors to a better life through attainable homeownership. There is an affordable housing crisis and we have the opportunity to be a solution through our efforts in building attainable, sustainably-built homes at a low homeownership cost. We believe the benefits of homeownership are long-lasting and make lives better, and therefore we are dedicated to democratizing attainable housing for all. Through innovative building practices and efficiencies, Clayton strives to provide quality and value for all our homes.
Waste in the construction process can mean increased costs for the customer. That is why Clayton is intentional about building practices, waste monitoring, and material purchases and usage. By being efficient and executing a sustainable recycling process, we can help provide affordable housing.

CrossMod® homes are built in a home building facility and feature site-built home amenities that appraise alongside site-built homes. By building CrossMod® homes at scale, we increase affordable housing stock and make homeownership attainable for more people.
Clayton sees an opportunity for positive impact between sustainability and attainable homeownership. By finding innovative ways to reduce waste and build more efficiently, we incur less costs during construction, allowing us to deliver attainable housing and help more people experience the benefits of homeownership. In 2023, we introduced the new Clayton eBuilt® home. These homes are built to the US Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home™ specifications and are equipped with enhanced energy-efficient features that can save homeowners up to 50% on energy bills annually¹. Through home building innovations, energy efficiency home features and philanthropic partnerships, we aim to meet the needs of our communities today while opening the door to a better future for generations to come.
