Home Center Experience: Completing Your Home Purchase

You’ve found your dream home and been approved by the lender of your choice… Now what? Let’s get into how Clayton’s home purchase completion processes work and how everything comes together before you move into your new home!

The countless hours of comparing floor plans, finding land for your home and selecting your lender of choice are finally over! You have found your dream home and have that approval letter in hand. Now it’s time to make that home yours by picking out details like the floors, cabinets, paint colors and any other customization options available in the floor plan you’ve chosen. You’ll meet with your Clayton home consultant to do this, and go over the home building process and any other information you may need to know about your home purchase.

After you’ve chosen the final details of your home, your home center will send your specifications to the Clayton home building facility and obtain a build quote. Once you receive that build quote and have your loan approval, your home consultant will discuss the final home purchase price with you. Then, you will sign your purchase and sales agreement and put down the deposit on your home.

What to Expect with Home Site Prep

You will also want to make sure you know what site prep tasks or land improvement options you will need in order to make sure your land is ready for your new home. Some examples of site prep tasks include:

  • Determining the soil conditions of the home site
  • Determining where the home will be located on the site
  • Clearing any foliage or other obstacles in the way of the home’s delivery
  • Grading the site for proper drainage

For land improvement options, consider if you’ll need to have heating and air or electrical systems installed or a driveway or garage constructed. You’ll also need to make sure you have any necessary permits for your new home, such as septic and building permits. The permits you need may vary by location, so your home consultant can help you figure out which ones you may need.

Remember this entire process is about you, so make sure to ask any questions you may have. Your home consultant will be more than happy to explain the steps of the process and do everything they can to ensure you get exactly what you’re looking for from your home.
