3 Steps to a Summer Ready Patio

With summertime right around the corner, create the perfect patio for your own outdoor oasis!

The air is a particular kind of hot this time of year. A humid and sticky hot you’ve waited a long winter to feel. The smell of lake water is in the air and popsicles are officially the norm. That’s right, it’s finally SUMMER.

If you’re anything like me, breaking out the beach towels and sweet tea is almost second to Christmas morning. Why? Because in my mind, freckles and sun kissed cheeks trump frost bitten noses any day!

In order to make the most out of this energetic time of year, you have to be fully equipped with all the patio essentials. That’s right, I’m talking theme, I’m talking seating and most importantly, I’m talking lighting that will make your outdoor area glow!

Let’s get started sprucing up your patio this season.

Find Your Theme

Whether you have an old patio or you’re creating a new one, one of the best patio ideas is to match the style of your home . Similar to how you would do with any other design, start with color.

Consider the surrounding landscape and even the area you live in – do you need to add more color or just mix it up? Beachy or boho? Modern or natural charm? The possibilities are endless!

Choose Your Furniture

This step is by far my favorite part of creating a perfect patio. The furniture is where you can express your style interests, while also providing a place for you and your guest to sit back and relax.

When selecting a table and chairs, keep in mind the location. Although some of us enjoy a light tan, sometimes a little sun can go a long way. Choose furniture that allows you to add an umbrella, or consider a gazebo extension to your patio.

Select Your Perfect Lighting

Lanterns and outdoor stringed lights are perfect for adding a unique look to your patio. Wrap them around a railing or a tree to give your patio a vintage feel.

Fire pits are also great to sit by under the stars on a chilly night during any season and can serve as good lighting as well. You can pick out some comfy cushions for outdoor furniture or put a few Adirondack chairs around it and start roasting marshmallows.

So, are you ready for patio party season? Not yet? No problem! Better late than never, so get started on your patio festivities today!
