Are Manufactured Home Exterior Door and Window Sizes Different?

Manufactured home window and door sizes can be smaller than site built, but can also be larger! Typically, they're the same as site built and even have green options!

You may wonder if manufactured home doors and windows are different sizes than traditional site-built home doors and windows.

Well, despite some stereotypes, the key differences between manufactured homes and site built homes are in the building process, not the materials!

Clayton Manufactured Home Exterior Door Sizes

Many homes across the country have a main exterior door that is 36“ wide and 80” tall. Even site built homes have varying door sizes, though, and Clayton Built® homes are no different.

Many of our homes are built with main exterior doors that are 36” wide and 80” tall, just like many site built homes across America. However, the door size may change with the type of manufactured home you buy. TRU homes often come with main exterior doors that are 34” wide and 80” tall. Other home brands may come with main exterior doors that are 38” wide and 80” tall.

Clayton Manufactured Home Window Sizes

You might also wonder if manufactured home windows are different than site built home windows. However, just like our exterior doors, you can expect our manufactured homes' windows to be one of the following sizes:

  • 30” by 60”
  • 36” by 60”
  • 36” by 54” About 80% of windows that we put in homes are one of those three sizes!

When Window Sizes Might Be Different

If a home’s windows are not one of our typical sizes, they may have been custom ordered or are smaller out of necessity. (Yes, you can purchase custom-built windows, but it totally depends on the home model you buy and which building facility constructs your home.)

For instance, a window over a kitchen sink is smaller than the typical 30” by 60” size so that it will fit above the sink. And you probably don’t want a 30” by 60” window in your bathroom where you expect privacy!

Clayton Window Options

Clayton offers Lux™ Windows in our Clayton Built® homes! Lux Windows are made of insulated vinyl for added durability, with double-pane insulated glass.

The options you have for energy efficiency include:

  • Low-E windows

Different Window Options, Same Size

The windows throughout a Clayton Built® home are generally the same size except for in the kitchen and bathroom, like I mentioned above.

That means that you’ll probably find the same size window in your living room as in your bedroom, except for any custom-built windows.

Buying a Clayton Built® home is a wonderful option whether you are a first-time home buyer, are ready to downsize or are looking for extra room for your growing family! You can expect great building materials and beautiful details throughout your whole home, including your doors and windows. Although doors and windows are generally standard across our homes, there are many other ways to customize your new Clayton Built® home.
