How Clayton Impact® Helps Team Members Make a Difference

April 6, 2026

At Clayton, our purpose is opening doors to a better life. And as part of that purpose, we’re empowering more than 20,000 team members across the country to make a difference in their local communities. In July 2021, we launched Clayton Impact®, a program that provides team members with paid volunteer time off so they can support the causes and nonprofit organizations that are meaningful to them.

The program began as an idea from Clayton’s leadership team. They were looking for a way for Clayton to continue to be a force for good, and for team members to be able to truly bring our company values to life.

"Companies have a responsibility to create positive change in the places where their team members live and work," said CEO Kevin Clayton. "As our team members donate their time within their communities, we are helping to model hope and improve the future for many."

As part of the company-wide program, all full-time Clayton team members receive eight hours of paid volunteer time off a year. Since Clayton Impact’s launch in 2021, team members have volunteered over 227,000 hours.

In 2025, Clayton Impact also saw a 75.3% team member participation rate, which means a majority of team members used at least some of their VTO. According to research by Double the Donation, the average corporate volunteer participation rate is 33% and the participation rate in top-quartile corporate volunteer programs is 66%.

“I think our team members have such giving hearts,” said Sarah Jo Gregory, who helped create Clayton Impact and is the Director of Wellbeing and Impact. “Helping others and doing good was just in our company's DNA before this formal volunteer program. So, right from the start, our team members loved it.”

Early volunteer projects included home repairs for those in need, community beautification and Habitat for Humanity builds. Just a few of the many causes team members across the country supported in 2025 included:

  • 127 Clayton Retail home centers participated in the annual global movement called Giving Tuesday, making pillows and blankets for those in need in their communities.
  • Team Members from Mungo Homes participated in the foundation's fourth annual Week of Service. Over 75 team members across various locations engaged in community service activities, including packaging food, building ramps and completing home repairs, raising funds, and supporting local nonprofits and veterans organizations.
  • 75 Lux Windows Team Members planned and build a pirate ship playset and playground for House of Hope Cumberland Children's Center in Crossville, TN.
  • 419 Team Members from Clayton’s home office volunteered 1,676 hours with Blount County Habitat for Humanity.
  • Silverton Team Members volunteered at the annual Silverton Foundation Golf Tournament, raising funds for families in need in Atlanta.
  • Technology Team Members participated in Hour of Code, teaching 52 classes in schools across East Tennessee.
