At Clayton, our purpose is opening doors to a better life. And as part of that purpose, we’re empowering more than 20,000 team members across the country to make a difference in their local communities. In July 2021, we launched Clayton Impact®, a program that provides team members with paid volunteer time off so they can support the causes and nonprofit organizations that are meaningful to them.
The program began as an idea from Clayton’s leadership team. They were looking for a way for Clayton to continue to be a force for good, and for team members to be able to truly bring our company values to life.
"Companies have a responsibility to create positive change in the places where their team members live and work," said CEO Kevin Clayton. "As our team members donate their time within their communities, we are helping to model hope and improve the future for many."
As part of the company-wide program, all full-time Clayton team members receive eight hours of paid volunteer time off a year. Since Clayton Impact’s launch in 2021, team members have volunteered over 227,000 hours.
In 2025, Clayton Impact also saw a 75.3% team member participation rate, which means a majority of team members used at least some of their VTO. According to research by Double the Donation, the average corporate volunteer participation rate is 33% and the participation rate in top-quartile corporate volunteer programs is 66%.
“I think our team members have such giving hearts,” said Sarah Jo Gregory, who helped create Clayton Impact and is the Director of Wellbeing and Impact. “Helping others and doing good was just in our company's DNA before this formal volunteer program. So, right from the start, our team members loved it.”

127 Clayton Retail home centers participated in the annual global movement called Giving Tuesday, making pillows and blankets for those in need in their communities.
75 Lux Windows Team Members planned and build a pirate ship playset and playground for House of Hope Cumberland Children's Center in Crossville, TN.
419 Team Members from Clayton’s home office volunteered 1,676 hours with Blount County Habitat for Humanity.
Technology Team Members participated in Hour of Code, teaching 52 classes in schools across East Tennessee.
And, as part of celebrations for the Clayton Impact program's fifth anniversary in July 2026, 61 Clayton Home Building Group facilities created Senior Care Kits, 101 Clayton Retail home centers received Essential Care Kits to give to local organizations, and 263 Home Office Team Members packed 500 backpacks for Boys and Girls Club and Blount County Education Foundation, 200 hygiene kits for Tennessee Coalition for the Homeless, and 25,000 meals for Second Harvest through Operation Gratitude.

Clayton is committed to being a force for good by inviting everyone to come together and build a better tomorrow for their communities. Our team members have found innovative ways to do good, and we look forward to seeing the many causes and organizations they will support in the future and the impact that they make.
