Clayton® Donates New Home to Family Promise of Lower Cape Fear to Help Families Recovering from Homelessness

The New Clayton Built® Home Will House Numerous Families Experiencing Homelessness Before Moving into Permanent Housing

December 14, 2021

WILMINGTON, N.C. – December 7, 2021 — Clayton, a leader in off-site built housing, is donating a new Clayton Built® home to Family Promise®, a national nonprofit aimed at preventing family homelessness. The donation, part of a larger partnership between Clayton and Family Promise, A Future Begins at Home, will be used by Family Promise of Lower Cape Fear to help families facing homelessness in the Wilmington area.

The new Clayton Built® home will be located near the nonprofit’s day center and will be used in Family Promises’ Grace housing program, which is a temporary accommodation meant to bridge the gap from homelessness to permanent housing by offering structure, case management, and in some cases, education and training.

“We are dedicated to helping as many families as we can in our area as they work towards housing stability,” said Anne Best, Family Promise of Lower Cape Fear Executive Director. “This new home, Hope House, allows us to expand our housing program to assist even more families each year.”

This is the second home donation of 2021 through A Future Begins at Home and marks the eleventh donation overall in the partnership.

“It is part of our philanthropic mission at Clayton to be a force of good in our communities and participating in this home donation with Family Promise helps fulfill that goal,” said Rich Rittinger, Clayton Homes of Shallotte, NC General Manager. “It is great to know this donation will help numerous families in our area.”

Clayton Homes of Shallotte, NC, a retail home center, partnered with Family Promise of Lower Cape Fear to complete the project. This includes the Clayton “Welcome Home” process which strives to deliver a move-in ready home with an excellent customer experience.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home has several appliances and features that come standard in every Clayton Built® home, such as an ecobee smart thermostat®, SmartComfort® by Carrier furnace, Duracraft® cabinets and more. Clayton is also committed to sustainability, environmentally conscious building methods and providing families with the latest energy efficient features. As part of that commitment, this home is also equipped with Clayton’s optional Energy Smart® home upgrade package, which includes energy efficient appliances, increased insulation and energy efficient windows to help with future savings.
