Clayton® Donates New Home to Family Promise to Launch a New Local Program for Texas Families Recovering from Homelessness

Family Promise of Grayson will use the new Clayton Built® home to start a transitional housing program aimed at helping countless families for decades

December 21, 2021

SHERMAN, TX – December 21, 2021 — Clayton, a leader in off-site built housing, is donating a new Clayton Built® home to Family Promise®, a national nonprofit aimed at preventing family homelessness. The donation, part of a larger partnership between Clayton and Family Promise, A Future Begins at Home, will be used by Family Promise of Grayson County to help area families facing homelessness.

The new home will be used as transitional housing, which is a temporary accommodation aimed at bridging the gap from homelessness to permanent housing by offering structure, case management, and in some cases, education and training. With this home, Family Promise of Grayson County will launch its transitional housing program. Since they began serving guests in May 2018, Family Promise of Grayson County has served 71 families facing or experiencing homelessness, including 168 children, and this home will increase that impact.

“No child deserves to be homeless, and it is part of our mission to empower Grayson County families to end child homelessness.” said Leigh Walker, Family Promise of Grayson County Executive Director. “This home donation from Clayton allows us to help even more families and children each year to ensure they have a place to call home while they look for permanent housing.”

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home has several features that come in every Clayton Built® house, such as an ecobee smart thermostat®, SmartComfort® by Carrier furnace, Duracraft® cabinets and more. It is also equipped with Clayton’s Energy Smart® home package, which includes energy efficient appliances, increased insulation and energy efficient windows to help with future savings.

The home was built by TRU Homes® in Belton, TX while Clayton Homes of Denison, TX, a retail home center, partnered with Family Promise of Grayson County to complete site construction for the home.

“It is part of our mission as a company to be a force for good in our community,” said Jason Garcia, Clayton Homes of Denison, TX General Manager. “I am proud of each of our local team members who helped complete this home that will assist families here for decades to come, truly opening doors to a better life.”

This home is the third and final home donation of the year and marks the 12th home donation overall in the partnership. It is also the third home Clayton has donated to Family Promise in the state of Texas since 2018.
