Clayton Home Building Group® Named 2020 MHI Manufacturer of the Year

Off-site home builder secures top Manufactured Housing Institute® award for fourth consecutive year

April 16, 2020

MARYVILLE, Tenn., April 16, 2020— Clayton Home Building Group®, national builder of off-site and on-site built homes, was awarded Manufactured Housing Institute’s 2020 Manufacturer of the Year for the fourth-consecutive year.

“We are so grateful for our team members and all their hard work and dedication, especially during this time,” said Clayton Home Building Group President, Keith Holdbrooks. “As an essential business, the need for new, quality, affordable housing is always present, but it is especially important during these heightened times of uncertainty. We are grateful to be able to continue providing the opportunity of homeownership to those seeking it.”

Each of Clayton Home Building Group’s over 13,000 team members across its 40 home building facilities, 20 supply locations and nine on-site home builders are united around a resounding commitment to building a quality, beautiful home that is durable and built to last a lifetime. As an example of its commitment to quality, Clayton Home Building Group opened the Home Innovation Lab at its home office campus. The 5,100 sq. ft. design think tank supports all 40 of its off-site home building facilities and allows for a collaborative process between facilities, interior designers, architects and renderers.

Another example of Clayton Home Building Group’s focus on quality in 2019 was its expansion of building partners for its Clayton Built® homes to meet Clayton’s high standards of quality. These partners include Rheem®, Carrier®, ecobee, Frigidaire® and many others.

The focus on quality extends to the quality of its team members’ working environment. Clayton Home Building Group continued to renovate facilities in 2019 to enhance team member experience. One of Clayton’s home building facilities, Clayton Sulphur Springs, stayed true to that principle by installing a 200-kilowatt solar carport system. The solar panel system allows the company to offset up to 40 percent of the facility’s on-demand electricity use with renewable energy, while providing shade for team members’ vehicles.

Additionally, with the announcement of the industry’s development of the new home category, CrossMod®, off-site built homes continue to push the limits on innovation and design. Clayton remains dedicated to elevating the industry and providing more homes to individuals across the nation.

MHI® is the national trade organization for the off-site housing industry, whose members include builders, retail home centers, community owners, suppliers and 50 affiliated state organizations. Members are responsible for more than 85 percent of the homes in the off-site housing category produced each year.
