Clayton Announces New Partnership with Family Promise to Fight Homelessness

Once homeless, New Braunfels family opens door to new, fully furnished home

December 21, 2018

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - Clayton, one of the leading builders of prefabricated and site built homes, has partnered with Family Promise, a leading national nonprofit addressing the family homelessness crisis in America, to present a New Braunfels family with a brand-new prefabricated home.

The owners of a mobile roadside assistance company, Mona Lisa and Oscar De Paz of New Braunfels tried to live their dream of owning a business and providing for their family of five, but when receiving payments from clients proved to be a challenge, they suddenly found themselves without a place to live. With nowhere to turn, the family slept in their car or at a storage facility with their belongings. The storage facility manager suggested they contact Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels. In three months, the family successfully completed the program’s requirements, secured steady employment and housing and achieved sustainable independence.

The home donation moment was marked at a local ribbon-cutting event where representatives from Family Promise, Clayton and Ashley HomeStore were on hand as the couple and their three sons were welcomed to their new three-bedroom, two-bath fully furnished home.

“Manufactured housing is one of the largest sources of unsubsidized, affordable housing in the country,” said Family Promise CEO Claas Ehlers. “We are excited to work with Clayton and help move this family from being homeless to homeowners, helping them along the path to stability and opportunity every family deserves.”

Family Promise is a national nonprofit organization helping homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.

“We are committed to contributing solutions to the affordable housing crisis in America,” said Kevin Clayton, CEO of Clayton. “We hope our continued efforts with the Family Promise team will increase awareness and inform how others can donate or volunteer to positively impact the lives of families affected by homelessness.”

Clayton has leveraged decades in the home building industry, along with innovative, efficient building practices to provide home buyers with quality, affordable housing options. Clayton prefabricated homes are built indoors, away from the hazards and delays that can be caused by rain and seasonal weather. Clayton offers affordable homes for families across America by purchasing building material and name-brand appliances in bulk, which are distributed through its network of building facilities nationwide. Offsite building efficiencies, production line like assembly and material recycling also aid in reducing the waste and cost of construction.
