If you’re looking for a new manufactured or modular home, you’ll want it to be beautiful and stylish. And you’ll want to know it was built to standards of quality, durability and innovation. But have you given a lot of thought to how energy efficient it will be?

Maybe you’ve already looked into some of the ways Clayton Built® homes are constructed with energy efficiency in mind, or maybe you’ve just started browsing some of our incredible floor plans. Whatever point you’re at in your home buying journey, you’ve definitely come to the right place! We are here to help and answer all of your questions.

At Clayton, we care about the details of your home, including how efficient it is. This means we’re always looking for ways to make sure your home can help you save both energy and money, from the day you move in and every day after that.

And one of the ways we do this is by offering our optional EnergySmart® Home package, which includes a variety of energy efficient upgrades. The EnergySmart® Home package is available exclusively from these Clayton family of brands retailers: Clayton Homes®, Oakwood Homes®, Freedom Homes®, Luv Homes®, Crossland Homes®, International Homes® and TruValue Homes®.

Now, let’s jump right into to some of the features that are included in the EnergySmart® Home package and what they can do for you.

Ecobee Smart Thermostat

An ecobee smart thermostat is installed in every new Clayton Built® home, including those with the EnergySmart® Home package. This thermostat gives you the ability to set the temperature of your home throughout the day and can automatically adjust based on your heating and cooling needs. So, you’ll use less energy while you’re at work or traveling, helping you save while also giving you one less thing to keep track of.

Insulation

The higher the R-value of the insulation used in your home, the more effective it is and the more comfortable your home will be. With the EnergySmart® Home package, the roof cavity of your home is filled with blown-in R33 insulation. (Homes with a vaulted ceiling have insulation with a maximum value of R30.) A layer of R22 insulation is used in the subfloor, while R11 insulation in the walls also aids in energy efficiency. All of this helps keep heat in during the winter and out during the summer, which means your home’s furnace and AC don’t have to work as hard to keep things at your ideal temperature.

Sealed Ductwork

Sealed ductwork, which is contained in the subfloor of your home, is another way to help keep your home the temperature you want all year round. This will also help keep dust, moisture, pests and pollen outside where they belong, which means less allergens indoors. It’s all about making your home just a little bit more comfortable, so you can relax and enjoy it for the years to come!

Low-E Windows

We offer Low-E windows to help keep heat in during cooler months and out during the warmer months, by reducing the amount of UV rays that enter your home. As a bonus, this can also help keep your carpet and fabric furniture from fading over time! Our Lux Windows™ are available with optional argon and double-pane insulated glass and are made of durable insulated vinyl, so they are long lasting and also reduce outside noise.

Thermo Mate-Line Gasket in Multi-Section Homes

If you choose a multi-section home, this gasket is installed along the exterior edging of your home, ceiling, end walls and floors to help make sure your entire home will be protected from potential air filtration and moisture issues.

Dual Element Water Heater

Your home’s hot water heater is something you probably don’t think about very often, but you definitely need it to be reliable for your day-to-day life! With an energy efficient Rheem® dual element water heater, you’ll help reduce your energy costs while also meeting your home’s daily hot water needs.

And there you have it. With the EnergySmart® Home package available exclusively from Clayton retail home centers, all of these amazing features combine to help your home use less energy and help you enjoy a lifetime of savings. Buying a home is a big investment, and this package is just one of many ways our homes help you make the most of that investment as you work to create a little slice of the world to call your own.
