Can I purchase factory direct or get a price quote on your website?
Home prices and setup requirements vary greatly based on a number of factors — size of home, region of the country, local construction issues/regulations/materials, equipment needs, and design features, just to name a few. At any one of our Home Centers located throughout the U.S., we are able to sit down with you and work out the specifications that you require on purchasing a Clayton home.
What is the value of my current home?
Home prices and values are driven by many factors. We suggest that you use your local Yellow Pages to look up a real estate appraiser in your area who is familiar with manufactured housing to get an accurate, up-to-date appraisal. Appraisals may take into consideration the amount of land, location, views, condition of the home, condition of surrounding homes, and any improvements to the home and property.

How long is the warranty period?
Our manufacturer's warranty is for a period of one year from the original purchase date. The Home Center that you purchase from can supply you with detailed information on all warranties available on the home of your choice.

How does manufactured housing compare to site built housing?
Manufactured homes are built entirely in the home building facility under federal code administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which went into effect June 15, 1976, and has been upgraded numerous times. The code covers single or multi-section homes and includes transport to the site and installation. Regulations include design, construction, strength, durability, transportability, fire resistance, energy efficiency, and quality. Manufactured homes are built and delivered to a site; they are primarily intended to be affixed to a permanent foundation. Modular homes are built to state, local or regional code where the home will be located.
Because we build all our homes in state-of-the-art facilities, we utilize labor-saving techniques not practical for the average site builder. The controlled environment also improves the flow of materials and reduces the amount of "lost time" or damaged materials that are common on site-built construction sites. With more than 32,000 homes built last year, we are able to purchase materials at a more favorable price than most contractors due to volume. These savings are significant and are passed on to you in the form of affordable housing.
Do you manufacture and ship homes outside the U.S.?
Very rarely. While we have 35 home building facilities from coast to coast and ship to more than 1,500 retailers, presently we do not have programs in place to build or ship our homes outside the continental U.S.
Do you supply the land to go with the home?
Yes. Local Home Centers have knowledge about land availability in the areas they cover.
Do you have any used or repossessed homes available in my area?
We offer many pre-owned and foreclosure homes for sale at our Home Centers nationwide. You can also refer to VMFrepos.com to see what Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance has in inventory, but this is just a small portion of the houses available. Your local Home Center has a listing of available homes in your area.

Where can I find the HUD and serial numbers on my current home?
It all depends on the year built. From 1994 to present, the Data Plate, which includes model, serial number, HUD number and assorted other information on the home, should be located in the master bedroom closet.
For 1993 and before, the Data Plate could have been placed on the master bath vanity door, a kitchen cabinet door, in the utility room, on the inside of the electrical cabinet or in the master bedroom closet. All models, however, will have the serial number stamped on the front header. This is the I-beam that runs across the width of the front of the home. It will be located on the left-hand side of the header when standing in front of the home.
Can I rent a home from Clayton Homes?
Currently, we do not have a rental program in place for our homes.
Where do I get financing?

A nearby authorized Home Center is an expert when it comes to custom design options and will be delighted to assist you. Many Clayton Homes building facilities specialize in custom homes while others feature standardized pre-engineered homes to enhance efficiency and value. It is likely that your Clayton Home Center and their building partners will be able to work with you to personalize your new home to meet your design and décor desires.
